Manager, Corporate Development

Our mission is to make biology easier to engineer. Ginkgo is a horizontal platform that enables our customers to create products that help solve the globe's growing challenges in health, energy, food, materials, and more. We are poised to disrupt multiple industries by leveraging our innovative data, automation, and scale capabilities in biological engineering. Ginkgo recently raised $1.6B and a major use of proceeds is a much more proactive Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) strategy. The Corporate Development team at Ginkgo is a small, fast-paced, high-performing group responsible for sourcing, evaluating, negotiating and executing M&A transactions and investments. This team is central to Ginkgo's continued growth. We work closely with senior leadership to guide company strategy and lead all aspects of identifying, evaluating, and executing transactions that have a significant impact on the overall direction of the company. As a core member of this team, you will help identify and support transformative acquisitions and investments that accelerate or increase the likelihood of Ginkgo achieving its strategic objectives. You will report to the VP, Corporate Development. Additionally, you'll work with cross-functional leaders to help establish strategic plans, buy vs. build analyses, and define sourcing priorities across a diverse set of M&A focus areas, as well as develop prioritized target lists, and cultivate strong relationships in those spaces. #LI-MP1 Responsibilities Support M&A deals to expand Ginkgo's presence in new and existing end markets and to strengthen Ginkgo's technology portfolio. This includes evaluation of business model attractiveness, strategic/financial analysis, valuation, due diligence, and integration. Identify, evaluate and recommend companies and technologies for Ginkgo to consider for M&A, in collaboration with our Technical and Commercial teams. Nurture and build relationships with emerging and established companies from a variety of industries, as well as with investment banking and venture capital firms. Serve as a strategic partner across our organization, coordinating M&A across teams, including program management, technology, commercial, operations, finance, accounting, and legal. Refine and implement the processes and analytical frameworks for evaluating and executing M&A opportunities and investments and manage the pipeline (for context, some deals we've executed include FGen, Dutch DNA, Novogy, Warp Drive Bio, Gen9, and we're thinking even bigger now - we just announced a planned transaction to carve out a large facility from Bayer Crop Science!). Desired Experience and Capabilities You have 3
years of relevant M&A deal-making experience, whether in investment banking, corporate development, private equity, venture capital, management consulting or otherwise, preferably including some prior experience within a startup or fast paced environment. Ideally you have work experience and knowledge of the life sciences industry and/or biotech. If you have working knowledge of the synthetic biology industry, even better! Demonstrated experience supporting work on sourcing, evaluating, and executing successful M&A deals. Ability to work effectively with cross-functional senior executives in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment Proficient in financial modeling, valuation, and broad quantitative analysis with a familiarity of basic accounting principles To learn more about Ginkgo, check out some recent press:

Our culture promotes inclusion and embraces how rewarding it is to work with people from all walks of life. We care about how our platform is used, and having a diverse team to build it gives us the best chance that it's something we'll be proud of as it continues to grow. Therefore, it's critical that we incorporate the diverse voices and visions of all those who play a role in the future of biology.
